Laptop
Repair Hawaii and Computer Repair Hawaii: some
observations from the professionals at MobileREMEDIES®
It
wasn’t long ago that our computers, especially our laptops, were
badly outdated 6 months after we bought them. This was primarily
because we wanted faster speeds, more memory and better images –
all in a lighter and more compact device. We got what we were asking
for but faster than we really wanted it. When we spent big bucks on
a new laptop, we wanted it to feel like it was top-of-the-line for a
little longer than a few months! When RAM and hard drive capacities
were measured in megabytes and screen resolutions in less than a
thousand pixels in either direction, it was easy to appreciate the
new look and feel of each new generation and we comfortably justified
replacing a broken laptop with the newest model.
So,
what has changed? Aren’t we still making technological advances at
a staggering pace? Yes, we are, but we have reached a point where
our devices are so
good at what they were meant to do that we can no longer easily
appreciate the change in quality but rather need a new application or
idea to catch our attention. For example, when your screen already
has ultra-high definition, your eye and brain can’t perceive any
better resolution. Unless we use our laptop for very specialized
applications, most of us will not appreciate the speed difference
between a 2.4 and 3.2-gigahertz processor nor between 4 and 8
gigabytes of RAM, and probably will not use the second 500 gigabytes
of our 1-terabyte hard drive! We can however, appreciate new
concepts
like touch screens and 3D images as well as new device formats like
iPad / tablet PC’s, electronic book readers, iPod / MP3 players,
game systems like Xbox, PS3, and of course, smartphones.
If
you use your laptop, as most people do, to write and receive E-mails,
surf the Internet, keep a photo library, watch a movie here and there
and write letters and documents for home and work, chances are that
if your computer suddenly stops working, you will no longer
appreciate any significant improvement in performance if you buy the
newest model. Getting your laptop repaired is often more
cost-effective and a very desirable option. While it is true that
with all the recent competition from the smaller devices mentioned
above, that the prices for new laptops have come down considerably,
sometimes getting your own computer back, set up just as it was with
all of your data where you left it, is still the best and cheapest
way to go.
